Future Routes: Miami Area
Featured Image: An American Airlines Boeing 777-300ER in Dallas
Miami and Fort Lauderdale are both vacation hotspots for people from not only the US but for people from all around the world. Also, both Miami International Airport and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport are hubs for multiple airlines and are gateways for transiting from the US to Central and South America because of their locations.
For these two reasons, there are a ton of flights out of those two airports, and there are plenty of ones that will start in the coming months. In this post, I will feature airport maps of both the Miami and Fort Lauderdale Airports and will highlight some of the most exciting flights from them. Please note that I won’t include all of the future routes out of the Miami area because then I would be featuring a ton of just dull flights. Instead, I am covering most of the new flights to new and exciting places.
At Miami International Airport, The Northern Terminal consists of only Concourse D and is home to the majority of American Airlines’ operations, British Airways departures, and multiple airlines’ international arrivals (but not departures). It also features a skytrain which goes from the eastern to the western sides of the concourse. The Central Terminal consists of concourses E, F, and G. Concourse E is used mostly by American Airlines and is home to more international arrivals, and Concourses F and G are used mostly for foreign and domestic departures (but cannot handle international arrivals). The South Terminal consists of Concourses H and J, and are used mostly for both international departures and arrivals.
At Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, Terminal 1 consists of Concourses A, B, and C. Terminal 1 is mostly used by Southwest Airlines, although some other US airlines or airlines that fly from airports that have US preclearance also operate from there. Terminal 2 solely consists of Concourse D and is only used by Delta Airlines and Air Canada. Finally, Terminals 3 and 4 comprises of Concourses E, F, and G. They are used for all international arrivals (that don’t have US pre-clearance) and are mostly used by JetBlue and Spirit Airlines.
