All of my flight reviews from the summer of 2019 and beyond all feature individual flight scores. After reviewing flights for about a year, I wanted to come up with a new system for reviewing flights. Don’t worry: the basic style that I review flights haven’t changed (I still go through the flight chronologically with pictures and about 2,000-3,000 word explanations), but I now have a specific scoring method for scoring each of the flights. At the beginning and end of each review, I post a scorecard of the flight. I have created scorecards for each of the four cabin classes: economy class, premium economy, business class, and first-class with variations on whether I’m taking a short or long-haul flight.
Each of the scorecards for each cabin class places more weight on one of a few sections which include ground service, seat comfort & functionality, in-flight service, food, entertainment, amenities, price, and operational satisfaction. Depending on which cabin class I’m flying, I place more weight on the seat (in premium cabins), operational satisfaction (economy), price (economy) or other sections so that I don’t over-inflate flight scores for premium cabins. It’s unfair to judge economy class the same way to judge premium cabins, so I created individual flight score systems for each of the four cabins. All of the
Economy Class
In the economy class scoring chart, I place more emphasis on the operational performance and price and less on seat comfort, food, and service which you normal expect more of in premium cabins
Economy Class Flight Score Overall Rubric:
Premium Economy
In premium economy, I focus a bit more on ground service and food and less on operational performance and the flight price than in economy class.
Premium Economy Class Flight Score Overall Rubric:
Business Class
In business class, I focus more on the in-flight service in the flight score and less on the price like I do with premium economy.
Business Class Overall Flight Score
First Class
Finally, for international first class reviews, I would focus more on seat comfort & functionality and less on the operational performance like I do in business class.
